Pumpkin hummus + spiced butter. The first time I t Pumpkin hummus + spiced butter. The first time I tried this combo was to use up leftover pumpkin (from an overzealous meal-prep week. I have a few of those from time to time 😅).

The flavour was great but it needed something to counter the sweetness. I rummaged through my pantry opening and smelling bottles until I landed on..rasam podi. I used it and we loved it. The only reason I tried this variant is so it’s easy for you to replicate and keep consistent. It has very rasam podi-reminiscent flavours, just simplified and measured out. Recipe is linked

Air fryer panko fish + mango salsa | And as if on Air fryer panko fish + mango salsa | And as if on cue, I’m back with another seasonal mango recipe at the tail-end of mango season, when all you see on grocery shelves are varieties that are too sour to eat or popular ones past their prime. Which admittedly, is kind of the whole point of this dish.

In an effort to prolong and optimise their availability, when I can only find mangoes that aren’t very good to eat as is, I cook with them. My logic is this: gorge on the good varieties when they’re at their prime; cook with the underwhelming season-ends. Recipe is linked
Chilli oil broccoli & green beans | When things ar Chilli oil broccoli & green beans | When things are quiet around here it’s usually one of two things: I’m eating the same thing on repeat, or my 35-year-old body is giving out with toddler sleep regressions. Thankfully it’s the former this time around.

This is an easy side to make and it features heavily in our meal rotations. Even easier if you have chilli oil on hand, but I have a quick workaround if you don’t. Great as a side with rice, or if your life and sleep patterns can accommodate it, it’s even better with fried rice and fried eggs. Chilli oil broccoli & green beans: blanch green be Chilli oil broccoli & green beans: blanch green beans and broccoli until tender but not falling apart. Rinse under cold water and set aside. Coarsely blend ginger, garlic, dried red chillies, a tiny piece of star anise, and some sugar. Sauté the aromats in oil until you have a sneeze fit (that’s when you know you’re ready to move on to the next stage). Go in with a big dollop of oyster sauce, cook until reduced and thickened, then toss in the blanched veg.

Paneer, bluebs, and eggs (frozen in individual bags) from the deep recesses of the freezer; oats and raising agents from the pantry; milk from the Aavin booth next door.
